Building A Resume

What is a Resume?

It is a chronological history of your achievements, responsibilities, and qualifications. Your resume serves as your first impression, and is your own personal sales and marketing tool. Follow our format to create your winning resume.

Format:
Seven Resume Headers

1. Contact Information
a. Name
b. Address
c. Phone #
d. E-mail address

2. Professional Summary
a. Describe your professional attributes

3. Accomplishments/Summary of skills
a. List 3 to 5 major accomplishments in a bullet format

4. Chronological Experience
a. List the Companies and Positions where you have worked in reverse chronological order, most recent at the top.

5. Education
a. List your highest degree first
b. Institute’s Name/Location
c. Graduation Date/GPA (if above 3.0)

6. Professional affiliations
List of all the Professional organizations of which you have a current membership.

7. Keyword summary
a. Keywords are industry buzzwords or phrases that recruiters and companies use to search resume systems
